NOT GUILTY: you didn't do it- you go to trial
GUILTY: you did the crime- no trial, you are sentenced
NO CONTEST: you are not going to fight the charges. You won't say you did the crime, but you are not saying you didn't do it.
MISDEMEANOR: medium charge- 6 months to 1 year in jail
GROSS MISDEMEANOR: minor charge- 1 day to 6 months in jail
FELONY: most serious charge- 1 year to life in prison
EVIDENCE: items or things that are shown in court to prove a person is guilty or not guilty
PLEA BARGAIN: a deal where you plead not guilty or no contest for a lower charge and/or less time. No trial- you are sentenced.
