QUESTIONS LIST:

  • cornea: the transparent, outermost layer of the eye. it covers the iris, pupil, and anterior chamber, and it plays an essential role in focusing vision.
  • iris: the colored part of the eye that surrounds the pupil. it controls the size of the pupil and hence the amount of light that enters the eye.
  • lens: the transparent, flexible structure located behind the iris and the pupil. its primary function is to focus light onto the retina at the back of the eye, allowing clear vision.
  • optic nerve: the bundle of nerve fibers that carries visual information from the retina to the brain, where it is processed to create the perception of sight.
  • nostril: the two openings at the base of the nose through which air enters and exits the nasal cavity during breathing.
  • septum: the cartilage and bone structure that divides the nasal cavity into two separate chambers, one for each nostril.
  • nasal cartilage: the flexible, cartilaginous tissue that forms the shape and structure of the nose, including the nasal septum.
  • ear canal: the tube-like structure that extends from the outer ear to the eardrum. it serves to funnel sound waves towards the eardrum.
  • eardrum: the thin membrane that separates the outer ear from the middle ear. it vibrates in response to sound waves and transmits these vibrations to the middle ear.
  • middle ear: the air-filled space located behind the eardrum. it contains three small bones called ossicles (malleus, incus, and stapes) that transmit sound vibrations from the eardrum to the inner ear.
  • cochlea: the spiral-shaped, fluid-filled structure in the inner ear. it plays a crucial role in hearing by converting sound vibrations into electrical signals that are transmitted to the brain via the auditory nerve.
  • eyelid: the thin folds of skin that cover and protect the eyes. they can open and close to regulate the amount of light entering the eye and to distribute tears over the surface of the eye.
