  • brackets : the symbols used in pairs to group parts of a mathematical expression.
  • indices : the power to which a number or expression is raised, also known as exponents.
  • division : the process of finding out how many times one number is contained within another.
  • multiplication : the mathematical operation of scaling one number by another.
  • addition : the process of combining two or more quantities to find their total.
  • subtraction : the process of finding the difference between two numbers by removing one from the other.
  • solve : find the value(s) of the variable(s) that answer the equation.
